Burke Knows the Score

James: “Hey, Burke? Do you know who tore up the chair? It just so happens you’re sitting right next to the chunk of loose threads that is clearly dangling from the fabric, so, you know, I thought I’d ask…”

Burke: “Hey, James? Do you know who’s not posting that piece about the government intervention at your workplace this week because you’re afraid it’ll get you in trouble the way it’s worded now? Any idea on who’s not posting the scene showing the Crimson Conservative’s thoughts on her having to hand ’s American Hero her rear end, and the amazing picture to go with it? Do you have a guess on when you’re going to finish your review of Batman: The Dark Knight Returns, Part One? You know, the essay where you defend Frank Miller and talk about how you two are on the same wavelength when it comes to a lot of things, and how you think most of his detractors are just attacking him because it’s the easy, popular thing to do? Or hey, I have a novel idea: why don’t you actually write a story about one of your characters and post that for a change?”

James: “Seriously, cat; I may go easy on you because you’re the only male pet in the household, but-”

Burke: “Okay, that was a little harsh of me… But one thing you need to do is ask your watchers about blogging, and try to get them to give you advice on starting that Blogger account like you’ve been thinking about doing.”

James: “Yeah. As always, you’re right… guess we can just say Abby tore up the chair, huh?”

Burke: “Yup. And this is the part where you say something about comments being welcome, even if it‘s just to-”

James: “Even if it’s just to say that I shouldn’t let my animals push me around, wise though they may be now and then?”

Burke: “If you want to, sure.”

James: “You did tear up the chair, though.”

Burke: “Only because I know you’re too big a softie to do anything about it, buddy.”
